Who we are
SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia is an International Non-governmental organization and a member of SOS Children’s Villages International Federation. We started our humanitarian work in Ethiopia with the opening of our first Village in Mekelle, Northern part of Ethiopia in 1974. Since then, we have expanded our programs to different regions where there are significant needs for intervention and where we believe we can work in partnership with all relevant actors to bring sustainable positive outcomes for children’s and young people.
Today, we have grown significantly to meet the persistent challenges that confront Ethiopian children who have lost parental care and those that are at risk of losing their parental care. Working in close collaboration with international donors, local government and community based organizations across seven program locations; we aspire that every child grows up with love, respect and security.

We are looking for a project Cashier that responsible for receiving payments made to SOS CVE, depositing cash and cheques received to bank account, effecting cash and cheque payments as per the directives thereon.

Your role?
While working with us a project Cashier you will be in charge of the following,
- Checks, counts and receives payments made to SOS-CVE and provides an official receipt thereon.
- Deposits daily money received by cash and cheque to bank account.
- Review & prepares payment requests for accuracy, completeness, compliance, level of authorization and clarity on the invoices
- Advances cash for authorized expenditures of the organization, ensuring completeness and correctness of supporting documents
- Follow-up and control payable and receivable accounts
Job Requirements
Must Criteria
- Education: Degree or equivalent qualification in community development social work or sociology or similar discipline
- Experience: At least 2-4 years relevant work experience in the field of social services or community development
. Strong understanding of family and community strengthens programs, child protection, youth development and community development
. Experience working with vulnerable families and communities and coordinate with the local stakeholders, community leaders and local authorities.
. Exposure in capacity building and creating awareness to the community and stakeholders
Desired Criteria
. Training certification on child protection, trauma informed care or family counselling
. Experience: Minium of 2 years of experience working with international. organization with similar projects.
. Knowledge and understanding of methodologies for participatory community development.
. Multilingual skills, particularly in Oromifa

- Problem Solving and Decision Making: ability to analyze challenges and develop practical solution for issues identified.
- Networking: skills to advocate for the project with ability to collaborate and network with local authorities and NGO’s
- Counselling, Coaching and Mentoring: ability to counsel, coach and mentor community and stakeholders.
- Case Management: ability to assess family needs based on the project objective and provide support to the target groups
