Job Description
Bopinc is looking for an Inclusive Marketing Expert to support Bopinc’s work in Ethiopia. The role will work primarily on the 2SCALE program but will also work on new partnerships and projects.
The Program
2SCALE is an incubator program that manages a portfolio of public-private partnerships (PPPs) for inclusive business in agri-food sectors and industries.2SCALE implements a portfolio of partnerships in eight countries in sub-Saharan Africa (Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Mali, Niger and Nigeria). 2SCALE offers support services to its business champions (SMEs and farmer groups) and partners, enabling them to produce, transform and supply quality food products. These products go to local and regional markets, including the base of the pyramid of consumers.
How the program works
2SCALE focuses on establishing agribusiness clusters built around business champions. Champions are either entrepreneurial producer organizations or local SMEs that trade or process the produce of farmers. By providing support to these clusters, 2SCALE is developing products and markets for local consumer markets, at the base of the pyramid. In it’s closing year 2025, 2SCALE will focus on knowledge transfer and consolidation of partnerships.
Responsibilities
The summary focus for 2SCALE 2025 is a consolidation of the partnerships and knowledge transfer:
- Knowledge exchange activities such as agribusiness and market linkage forums, webinars, learning events, inclusive agribusiness clubs, etc
- Fostering sustainability of the businesses (e.g. 2SCALE business champions) through the development of learning modules and tools; and connection with business coaching experts.
- Putting together the 2SCALE approach through structured documentation and publications.
- Monitor (immediate, intermediate) results of the BoP marketing interventions and Provide regular, monthly reports on the progress and the impact of the activities
- Provide “thought leadership” on BoP Marketing & Distribution in target value chains and (related) agri-food industries
- Coach and advise junior colleagues in other countries on the adoption and use of BoP marketing and distribution principles and practices.
Qualifications
- Ethiopian national
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Marketing, development economics, business administration
- Project management
- Proven experience in Marketing and Distribution in Ethiopia with Bop consumers
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse stakeholders; government, development players, large multinationals, rural small entrepreneurs;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and local language(s)
