MANDATE OF THE DEPARTMENT:
The Regional Office provides leadership and coordinates support for an expanded UN system response to ending the AIDS epidemic at regional and country level. It steers, promotes and supports regional and national partners and the UN system towards ending AIDS as a public health threat by 2030. Using an equity and equality lens as part of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Regional Office promotes effective use of strategic information of the epidemic trends and the status of its response and provides technical leadership on people-centered HIV prevention and response in the region focused on key populations and locations most at risk. |

Main tasks and Responsibilities of the Position:
Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Country Director (UCD) and the technical matrixed supervision of the Manager, Regional Operations, the Officer, Operations, supports the effective financial and administrative management of the UNAIDS presence in Ethiopia, comprising of the Country Office and the African Union Liaison Office. This specifically includes the management of the operating budget, financial analysis and reporting, and administration. 1) Overall operations administration -Provides technical advice and assistance to the Director and staff of the office on the full range of operations management: administrative, human resources, budgetary, financial, information technology, travel, procurement and contracting. 2) Financial administration and related matters -Supports the preparation and adjustment of the office´s budget coordinating appropriate inputs and clearances from management and other staff in the office. 3) Office administration activities -Assists in the management of common premises and services arrangements with other United Nations agencies, providing inputs as required. 4) Other operations management activities -Ensures the timely and accurate preparation and management of supply and service contracts and agreements, their extensions and timely closing out of contracts ensuring accurate contractor evaluation. |
