Organizational Overview
Nexus Ethiopia is a national Ethiopian Civil Society Organization committed to strengthening the resilience of vulnerable and crisis-affected communities through integrated Humanitarian–Development–Peace (HDP) Nexus programming, localization, partnership, and locally led humanitarian action.
Nexus Ethiopia, in partnership with other humanitarian actors, is implementing project entitled Integrated Lifesaving Humanitarian Response for Drought, Flood and Displacement-Affected Communities in Afambo and Amibara Woredas, Afar Region.
Project Background
The project is a multisectoral humanitarian response designed to provide lifesaving assistance and protection to drought-, flood- and displacement-affected communities in Afar Region. Nexus Ethiopia is responsible for implementing the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WaSH) and Multi-Purpose Cash (MPC) components, while two sub-implementing partners under Nexus Ethiopia are responsible for other thematic sectors of the response.
To strengthen the project team and ensure effective, accountable and timely implementation, Nexus Ethiopia invites qualified, experienced and committed Ethiopian professionals to apply for this position.
Key Responsibilities
The LAF Officer will ensure effective financial, administrative, logistics and operational support for project implementation in accordance with Nexus Ethiopia policies, donor requirements and applicable Ethiopian laws.
Key responsibilities include:
- Manage day-to-day project financial and administrative operations.
- Maintain accurate financial records, supporting documents and project accounts.
- Process payments, advances, liquidations and financial transactions in accordance with organizational procedures.
- Support preparation and monitoring of project budgets and expenditure forecasts.
- Monitor project expenditure against approved budget lines and identify variances.
- Support procurement and logistics processes in coordination with the relevant departments.
- Ensure proper documentation of procurement, assets, supplies and inventory.
- Facilitate field office administration, travel, accommodation and transportation arrangements.
- Maintain proper cash management and financial controls.
- Ensure compliance with Nexus Ethiopia financial, procurement and administrative policies and donor requirements.
- Support internal and external audits and provide required documentation.
- Prepare periodic financial and administrative reports.
- Coordinate with the Addis Ababa finance, logistics and administration teams.
- Ensure adequate documentation and filing of all project financial and administrative records.
- Manage key HR functions at field level
- Manage rental vehicles, fuel management and contract management of sub contractors
- Ensure strong documentation and filing system and timely submit original financial documents to Head Office
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Management, Logistics or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, preferably with NGOs/INGOs.
- Demonstrated experience in project finance, administration and logistics.
- Good understanding of NGO financial management, procurement and compliance requirements.
- Experience with donor-funded humanitarian projects is highly desirable.
- Experience with EHF-funded projects or OCHA requirements is an advantage.
- Strong computer skills, particularly MS Excel and accounting/financial management systems.
- Strong organizational, analytical and documentation skills.
- Fluency in English and Amharic; local language is an advantage.
