JOB SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the Field Coordinator, the Construction supervisor will supervise and monitor daily building activities in the project intervention area, ensuring that works are implemented according to Medical Teams International standards, protocols, and procedures.
The role will support efficient project implementation through planning, supervision, contractor coordination, quality control, and technical follow up.
Detailed responsibility and tasks:
- Develop specifications and BOQ based on the WGFS and latrines construction standard for construction of new buildings.
- Supervise and coordinate all aspects of building and /or remodeling assigned construction efficiently and safely.
- Maintain build schedules, schedule inspections, coordinate daily site work and activities, maintain quality standards, and ensure the WGFS and latrines completed by the schedule move in day.
- Ensure a safe job site always.
- Train volunteers in the safe usage of tools and equipment to prevent both injuries and damage.
- Manages the construction portfolio through the implementation phase and produces resource loaded and leveled project schedules. Reviews proposed designs to advise on constructability issues with adverse impacts.
- Works regularly with project coordinators, engineers and planners to define construction work package breakdown structure, requirements of work package content, and priority of package development.
- Manages multiple progress reporting requirements depending on project type.
- Responsible for overall adequate use of personnel to reduce equipment downtime, improve efficiency, control costs, and anticipate further improvements.
- Lead technically the hand over of the constructions.
- Any other duties and responsibilities that can be given by the immediate supervisor.
- Support the safeguarding of program participants and employees through promoting an environment of awareness and upholding the code of conduct provisions of Medical Teams Protection from Sexual Exploitation & Abuse, Child & Vulnerable Adult Protection, and harassment-free workplace policies. Incumbents will remain alert and responsive to any child and adult safeguarding risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills which will enable you to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the child and adult safeguarding policy and procedures, and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the safeguarding.
EDUCATION, LICENSES, & CERTIFICATIONS
- BSc/MSc in civil engineering or construction technology management. Must be computer literate, including Microsoft word, excel, outlook and power-point
EXPERIENCE
- At least three years’ experience working in a related profession and have at list one year of experience working in local or international NGO.
- Work in remote areas is preferable.
