The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is hiring an individual consultant for the position of Mitigation Activity Idea Note (MAIN) Development and Refinement Consultant. This remote, deliverable-based consultancy plays a key role in advancing carbon trading initiatives under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement through GGGI's Carbon Transaction Facility (CTF).

Key Responsibilities
Selected consultants will provide technical support to further develop, refine, and finalize assigned Mitigation Activity Idea Notes (MAINs) sourced through CTF origination channels. Key duties include:

Gap Analysis & Workplans: Reviewing assigned MAINs against carbon crediting criteria, identifying technical/data gaps, checking for prior program registrations, and creating a concise workplan for each MAIN.

Technical Refinement: Partnering with activity proponents to strengthen mitigation activity design, carbon accounting methodologies, baselines, additionality assessments, emission reduction calculations, and monitoring approaches.

Article 6 & Alignment Check: Assessing alignment with host country NDCs, Article 6 authorization requirements, financial structures, implementation risks, and Safeguards/Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) policies.

Documentation & Quality Control: Managing supporting documentation, consolidating refined MAIN content into prescribed templates, submitting deliverables for GGGI internal quality control, and addressing feedback through final approval.
Required Qualifications & Experience

Education: Advanced university degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Economics, Finance, Climate Policy, or a related discipline.

Experience: Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in climate change mitigation, carbon markets, or mitigation project development.

Technical Expertise: Demonstrated track record in carbon accounting, methodology selection, baseline development, and drafting carbon project documentation (e.g., MAINs, MADDs, or PDDs).

Article 6 Knowledge: In-depth understanding of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, host country authorization processes, and carbon crediting program requirements.

Language & Writing: Exceptional analytical and technical writing skills in English.
