SUMMARY
New Life Training Center is seeking a meticulous, self-driven, and reliable Finance Officer to oversee the daily financial operations, accounting activities, and financial management of our Life Skills Training Center.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Peachtree, or relevant local accounting systems Strong proficiency in MS Excel and financial data management
- Strong understanding of applicable tax regulations, statutory deductions, and financial compliance requirements High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professional ethics
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational and record-keeping abilities
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple financial responsibilities Strong communication and reporting skills
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Fee Collection & Cash Management: – Manage student tuition and training fee payments. – Issue official receipts for payments received. – Prepare and process bank deposits. – Reconcile daily cash and bank transactions. – Maintain accurate records of all payments and outstanding balances.
- Bookkeeping & Financial Record Keeping: – Record all income, operational expenses, and invoices accurately and on time. – Maintain organized financial records using accounting software and physical documentation where required. – Reconcile financial records regularly and identify discrepancies. – Ensure financial documents are properly filed and easily accessible.
- Payroll & Staff Compensation: – Prepare monthly payroll for teaching staff, administrative personnel, and support staff. – Ensure accurate calculation of salaries, deductions, taxes, and applicable benefits. – Maintain confidential and accurate payroll records.
- Financial Reporting: – Prepare regular financial statements and financial summaries. – Prepare income-and-expense reports and cash-flow summaries. – Provide budget updates and other financial information required by management. – Identify significant financial variances and report them to management.
- Taxation & Compliance: – Prepare and submit applicable monthly and annual statutory tax returns. – Maintain accurate records for withholding tax, income tax, pension contributions, and other applicable statutory obligations. – Ensure financial activities comply with applicable local laws, regulations, and organizational policies. – Maintain proper documentation for tax and financial reviews.
- Petty Cash Management: – Manage the center’s petty cash fund for routine operational and classroom-related expenses.
- Record all petty cash transactions accurately. – Reconcile petty cash regularly and report discrepancies when identified.
- Financial Control & Support: – Monitor financial transactions to ensure they are properly authorized and documented. – Maintain confidentiality of financial and employee information. – Support management with financial information for budgeting and decision-making. – Identify potential financial risks or irregularities and report them promptly.
Education:
– Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or a related field. – Professional accounting certification or relevant professional coursework is an added advantage.
Experience:
– Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on experience as an Accountant, Finance Officer, or in a similar financial role.
– Experience working in an educational institution, NGO, training center, or similar organization is preferred.
