01. Membership Management Officer

Position Summary

The Membership Management Officer will lead the onboarding, engagement, and retention of ESEDA’s member companies. The role is central to strengthening ESEDA’s membership base across its membership categories and ensuring members receive consistent value, communication, and support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end membership lifecycle: application processing, renewals, and retention across ESEDA’s membership categories.
  • Maintain an accurate, up-to-date membership database, including contact details, category, dues status, and engagement history.
  • Track and follow up on membership fee payments and dues in coordination with the finance team.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for member inquiries, requests, and support needs.
  • Develop and implement member engagement activities, including onboarding sessions, general assemblies, and networking events.
  • Coordinate member communications across channels such as LinkedIn, Telegram, WhatsApp, and email.
  • Support governance processes related to membership, including maintaining accurate records of voting rights for organizational members.
  • Facilitate B2B connections and market linkages among member companies.
  • Prepare regular membership reports and updates for management and the Board.
  • Gather member feedback to inform ESEDA’s services, advocacy priorities, and programming.
  • Support the planning and delivery of capacity-building training and other member-facing programs

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • At least 2–3 years of experience in management, customer relations, or a similar client-facing role.
  • Strong organizational skills and comfort managing databases and records.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

02. Business Development Expert

Job Description

The Ethiopian Solar Energy Development Association (ESEDA) is a registered non-profit, member-based industry association working to advance Ethiopia’s solar and clean energy sector. ESEDA advocates for supportive policy, quality standards, and market development on behalf of solar and clean energy micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). In line with Ethiopia’s broader national climate goals and the evolving needs of its clean energy ecosystem, ESEDA is expanding its scope beyond solar to become a multi-technology Renewable Energy Association, incorporating hydro, wind, biomass, geothermal, and productive use of energy.

As part of this evolution, ESEDA seeks to establish an Independent Business Wing that serves as a dedicated, revenue-generating commercial arm of the Association, structured to complement ESEDA’s advocacy and to strengthen the Association’s long-term financial self-sustainability. The Independent Business Wing is responsible for developing commercial, advisory, and market-facing services that create tangible value across the renewable energy sector.

Position Summary

ESEDA is seeking an experienced and results-driven Business Development Expert to lead the growth agenda of its new Independent Business Wing. Reporting to the General Manager, the Business Development Expert will design and execute strategies that expand market access, strengthen commercial partnerships, and unlock financing and investment opportunities for independent solar and on/off-grid energy businesses, as well as enterprises operating across the wider renewable energy value chain.

The role combines strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, market intelligence, and revenue-generation responsibilities, and requires a professional who is equally comfortable engaging government officials, financiers, and grassroots entrepreneurs. The successful candidate will play a central role in positioning ESEDA’s Independent Business Wing as a leading commercial and advisory platform for independent renewable energy businesses in Ethiopia.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Business Development

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy aligned with the objectives of the Independent Business Wing and ESEDA’s broader institutional mission.
  • Set annual business development targets, key performance indicators, and revenue goals in consultation with the General Manager.
  • Translate ESEDA’s strategic priorities into actionable work plans, budgets, and timelines for the Business Development function.
  • Identify emerging market segments, technologies, and business models across the solar, off-grid,
  • and broader renewable energy sector, and advise leadership on positioning accordingly.

Partnerships, Investment, and Market Access

  • Identify, evaluate, and pursue new business opportunities, strategic partnerships, and revenue streams for enterprises operating within the solar and broader renewable energy sector.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, investors, development partners,financial institutions, and other key stakeholders relevant to the Independent Business Wing’s commercial activities.
  • Facilitate access to financing, investment, and technical assistance opportunities for member enterprises and independent renewable energy businesses.
  • Lead negotiations and structure commercial agreements, memoranda of understanding, and partnership arrangements that create tangible value for the Business Wing and its stakeholders. Prepare and deliver persuasive business proposals, partnership agreements, and presentations to prospective partners and investors.

Market Intelligence Services

  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify emerging trends, market gaps, and growth opportunities within the renewable energy industry, converting findings into saleable market intelligence products and reports.
  • Produce periodic market briefs and sector updates as fee-based offerings for clients, in addition to informing ESEDA leadership and guiding the Business Wing’s own commercial strategy.
  • Track and analyze pricing, demand, and investment trends across the solar, off-grid, and broader renewable energy sub-sectors to inform both client-facing products and the Business Wing’s internal strategy.
  • Build and maintain a repository of proprietary market data and case studies that strengthens the Business Wing’s credibility and differentiates its offerings from competitors.
  • Identify opportunities to package research outputs into recurring engagements (e.g., quarterly briefings, annual sector outlooks) that generate predictable, ongoing revenue.

Stakeholder Engagement and Representation

  • Represent ESEDA’s Business Wing at industry events, forums, trade fairs, and policy discussions to promote member interests and expand visibility.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and member businesses to design programs, workshops, and initiatives that enhance member capacity and competitiveness.
  • Contribute to policy advocacy efforts by gathering member input and communicating sector needs to relevant regulatory bodies.

Performance Management and Reporting

  • Track, analyze, and report on business development performance, providing regular updates to the General Manager.
  • Maintain accurate records of business development activity, including pipeline status, agreements concluded, and outstanding opportunities.
  • Recommend course corrections to strategy and targets based on performance data and market feedback.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, Engineering, or a related field; a Master’s degree is an added advantage.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of progressive professional experience in business development, commercial partnerships, investment facilitation, or private-sector engagement, with at least three (3) years in a managerial or leadership capacity.
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully identifying and closing business opportunities or strategic partnerships.
  • Strong understanding of Ethiopia’s business environment, and knowledge of the renewable energy or off-grid solar sector is highly desirable.

03. Communication and Publication Officer

ESEDA is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Communication and Publication Officer to join our team

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement ESEDA’s communication and visibility strategies.
  • Prepare and manage content such as press releases, reports, publications, website content, and promotional materials.
  • Manage and update ESEDA’s website and social media platforms.

04. Research and Analytical Expert

Position Summary

ESEDA is seeking a senior Research and Analytical Expert to lead the Association’s research agenda across the renewable energy sector. Reporting to the General Manager, the Research and Analytical Expert will generate the market intelligence, policy analysis, and sector evidence that underpin ESEDA’s advocacy positions, membership services, and strategic decision-making. As Ethiopia’s only national renewable energy association, ESEDA depends on this role to establish and maintain a credible, authoritative evidence base for the sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and lead ESEDA’s annual research agenda, aligned with the Association’s advocacy priorities and strategic direction set by the General Manager and Board.
  • Monitor national energy policy, regulatory developments, tax and incentive frameworks, and international commitments relevant to Ethiopia’s renewable energy sector.
  • Translate policy and market developments into clear, evidence-based advocacy positions, briefs, and formal submissions to government agencies and regulators.
  • Lead the production of ESEDA’s flagship knowledge products, including an annual state-of-the-sector report, periodic market updates, and thematic studies.
  • Build and maintain a sector database and repository of market data, case studies, and member intelligence that reinforces ESEDA’s credibility as the national authority on renewable energy.
  • Design and oversee member surveys and sector assessments to track investment flows, enterprise performance, employment, and market barriers across the industry.
  • Represent ESEDA’s research function at industry events, policy forums, and stakeholder convenings, presenting findings to government, financiers, and development partners.
  • Collaborate with development partners, academic institutions, and government agencies to validate findings, access data, and build joint research initiatives.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Public Policy, Development Studies, Business, Environmental Studies, or a related field; a Master’s degree a Master’s degree is an added advantage.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of progressive professional experience in research, policy analysis, market intelligence, or sector advisory work, with at least three (3) years in a senior or leadership capacity.
  • Demonstrated track record of producing high-quality research reports, policy briefs, or sector studies that have directly informed policy or investment decisions.
  • Strong understanding of Ethiopia’s business and policy environment; knowledge of the renewable energy or off-grid solar sector is highly desirable.
  • Excellent analytical writing, data interpretation, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex findings clearly to non-technical and technical audiences alike.
