Job Description

The English Teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality English lessons in accordance with the Cambridge curriculum. The teacher will support students in developing strong skills in reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar, vocabulary, and critical thinking, while creating an engaging, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging English lessons aligned with the Cambridge curriculum and learning objectives.
  • Teach English language and literature skills appropriate to students’ age and ability level.
  • Develop students’ reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar, vocabulary, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Use a variety of teaching strategies, resources, and technology to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
  • Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans, teaching materials, assignments, and assessments.
  • Assess and monitor students’ academic progress regularly and provide constructive feedback.
  • Prepare students effectively for Cambridge Checkpoint, IGCSE, AS/A Level, or other relevant Cambridge assessments, depending on the grade level.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessment results, student progress, and academic performance.
  • Identify students who require additional support and provide appropriate intervention or differentiated learning activities.
  • Establish clear classroom expectations and maintain a positive, respectful, and well-managed classroom environment.
  • Encourage students to develop confidence, independence, creativity, communication skills, and a love of learning.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding students’ progress, strengths, and areas for improvement.
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers, coordinators, and school management to support the school’s academic objectives.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, professional development activities, school events, and extracurricular activities.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and the continuous improvement of teaching and learning practices.
  • Ensure that teaching and assessment practices comply with school policies and Cambridge requirements.
  • Carry out other reasonable academic and professional duties assigned by the school management.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, English Education, Education, Literature, or a related field.
  • Recognized teaching qualification is preferred.
  • Previous experience teaching the Cambridge curriculum is highly desirable.
  • Experience preparing students for Cambridge examinations such as IGCSE, AS, or A Level is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of English language, literature, grammar, and academic writing.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • Good classroom management and student-engagement skills.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction for students with varying abilities.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using educational technology and digital learning resources.
