Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for the position of Junior Mechanic. The successful candidate will support vehicle maintenance and repair activities to ensure fleet reliability, safety, and operational efficiency.
The position is responsible for conducting vehicle inspections, performing maintenance activities, diagnosing faults, and assisting in the repair of vehicle systems in accordance with established maintenance standards.
Key Purpose Statement
To support the maintenance and repair of vehicles through effective inspection, diagnosis, servicing, and preventive maintenance activities, ensuring vehicles operate safely and efficiently.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Vehicle Inspection & Diagnostics
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and identify mechanical defects.
- Assist in diagnosing vehicle faults and determining corrective actions.
- Report maintenance requirements and repair recommendations.
Vehicle Maintenance & Repair
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities in accordance with maintenance standards.
- Assist in servicing and repairing engine, transmission, steering, suspension, brake, and clutch systems.
- Support basic troubleshooting and repair of automotive electrical systems.
- Ensure vehicles are maintained in a roadworthy and safe operating condition.
Workshop Operations
- Maintain workshop tools and equipment in good working condition.
- Adhere to workplace safety and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.
- Support housekeeping and continuous improvement initiatives within the workshop.
Skills, Experience & Education
Education
- Diploma (10+3/Level IV) in Auto Mechanics, Automotive Technology, Mechanical Engineering, General Mechanics, or a related field of study.
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year experience in Vehicle Maintenance.
Skills & Competencies
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance standards and practices.
- Vehicle inspection and fault diagnosis skills.
- Knowledge of engine, steering, suspension, brake, and clutch systems.
- Basic automotive electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Additional Requirement
- Valid driving license is advantageous.
