Job Summary
Under the general guidance of the Center Manager, the Occupational Therapist plays a key role in assessing and treating children with developmental challenges, particularly in the areas of fine motor skills, sensory integration, and behavioral regulation. Responsibilities include conducting quarterly reassessments of children with disabilities (CWDs), providing therapeutic recommendations to families, prescribing assistive devices and referrals in coordination with the multidisciplinary team (MDT), and mentoring assistant rehabilitation workers. The therapist is also responsible for maintaining accurate records and regularly updating the data system.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Assessment & Intervention
- Conduct evaluations of children’s motor development, sensory processing, and behavioral patterns.
- Develop and implement individualized therapy plans tailored to each child’s functional needs and goals.
- Facilitate engaging therapeutic activities that promote motor coordination, sensory regulation, and cognitive growth.
- Family & Caregiver Support
- Provide clear guidance and training to parents and caregivers on continuing therapy at home.
- Share progress updates and strategies to reinforce developmental milestones outside clinical settings.
- Collaborative Practice
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure integrated care and holistic development.
- Participate in team discussions regarding medical referrals and adaptive equipment prescriptions.
- Documentation & Data Management
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of assessments, progress notes, and therapy outcomes.
- Regularly update and upload CWDs’ data into the center’s database.
- Training & Capacity Building
- Equip assistant rehabilitation workers with foundational knowledge and practical skills in occupational therapy techniques.
- Professional Conduct
- Uphold organizational policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
- Demonstrate empathy, patience, and professionalism when supporting children who may face challenges or resist therapy.
- Additional Duties
- Perform any additional tasks as assigned by the Center Manager or designated supervisor.
