About the Role

We are seeking a strategic, commercially driven, and creatively ambitious Sales & Marketing Manager to lead the growth and brand development of Pharo Health.

This role offers the opportunity to shape the market presence of a modern, patient-centered healthcare organization by building brand equity, driving patient engagement, strengthening referral networks, and executing impactful marketing strategies across our healthcare service lines. The successful candidate will lead the full marketing function while ensuring alignment with clinical excellence, ethical healthcare communication, and exceptional patient experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

Overall Leadership

  • Development & implementation of innovative strategies, building Pharo’s brand, driving patient acquisition and retention, and strengthening its reputation within the community and among referring healthcare providers.
  • As part of the senior management team, support in the development of short term, mid-term and long-term goals for the organization (in line with the corporate strategic plan) and align/lead the process of goal development for the marketing department,

Marketing Strategy, Activities & Planning

  • Develop, implement & monitor the marketing department’s policies, manuals, procedures, protocols, and other related documents ensuring compliance with standards & requirements.
  • Develop and implement strategic marketing plans & structured referral marketing programs
  • Manage marketing & business development activities
  • Conduct regular market research and landscape analysis to identify trends & opportunities
  • Take overall responsibility for brand management and corporate identity
  • Lead the development and publication of innovative promotional & marketing materials in line with required quality & standards
  • Coordinate and manage advertising campaigns across multiple channels
  • Manage Pharo’s online presence & digital marketing
  • Prepare and manage departmental budgets & monitor expenditure
  • Monitor and report on effectiveness of marketing efforts.
  • Ensure all marketing activities comply with Ethiopian healthcare advertising regulations, Pharo Health’s ethical standards, and international best practice for healthcare marketing.

Team Leadership, & Stakeholder Management

  • Hire, lead, train, mentor, and evaluate the performance of the marketing department staff
  • Manage any external agencies, freelancers, or content creators engaged in supporting the marketing function.
  • Track and analyze digital marketing performance
  • Track and provide periodic achievement report as per set standards and timelines
  • Set clear performance objectives, provide regular feedback, and foster a culture of creativity, data-driven decision-making, and clinical sensitivity within the marketing team.
  • Maintain professional affiliations to enhance professional growth and development and to improve Pharo’s visibility
  • Build and maintain relationships with Key Opinion Leaders, Corporate, & Institutional Partnerships
  • Work in close partnership with all departments within Pharo Health.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills

  • Health related degree (MD, Pharmacy, Nursing, MRT, Public Health) from a renowned institution in Ethiopia. Master’s degree in marketing, MBA, or Health Management will be an advantage.
  • Minimum 7 years of healthcare marketing experience, with at least 2 years in a Leadership role.
  • Solid understanding of the Ethiopian healthcare market, patient referral dynamics, physician engagement, corporate landscape, and regulatory requirements
  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools
  • Strong brand thinking, creative and aesthetic sensibility
  • Ability to build marketing dashboards, track KPIs & analyze data.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with clinicians, corporate clients, media, government, and community stakeholders
  • Sound written and verbal communication in both English and Amharic.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Skill in planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating a wide variety of activities
  • Team oriented with the ability to partner across all functions within the organization
  • Strategic thinker with strong execution capability. Self-driven, highly organized, and able to manage multiple campaigns and priorities simultaneously.
