About the role
GAIN Ethiopia is seeking to recruit a Project Officer, Wholegrain Transformation to support the coordination of wholegrain transformation projects activities.
This role will be offered on a fixed term contract running until December 2027, subject to availability of funding and will be based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This advert closes on 18th July 2026. Key Responsibilities include.
- Strengthening wholegrain processors’ capacity through facilitating technical assistance around technology adoption, quality assurance systems, business development support, financial support linkage, and institutional market linkages.
- Provide wholegrain nutritional awareness campaigns targeting smallholder farmers, schools, and other institutions.
- Promote household-level nutrition practices by leading education campaigns that encourage wholegrain consumption in collaboration with the existing government actors and the project’s consortium members.
- Manage assigned activities in the plan and support the tracking of progress and deliverables from project partners.
- Under the guidance of the project coordinator, coordinate and schedule project review meetings at regular cycles and prepare documentation of findings and recommendations, and track progress.
- Consult with the Project Manager or Project Coordinator on issues of course correction and change requests, escalate and contribute to resolve any project issues.
- Contribute to the drafting of project documentation during the design, planning and end-to-end implementation of the project as per the GAIN Project Management Guidelines (PMG) i.e results framework, work plans, etc.
- Understand relevant environments and gender and safeguarding themes and their presence and relevance in project activities.
- Implementation of wholegrain transformation project activities in compliance with the policies and best practice standards of GAIN.
About you
The ideal candidate will possess proven expertise in capacity building, stakeholder engagement, business development support, quality assurance systems, and facilitating linkages to finance and institutional markets. Experience designing and delivering nutrition education and behaviour change campaigns, particularly promoting healthy diets and wholegrain consumption among farming communities, schools, and institutions, is highly desirable. The candidate should have strong project coordination skills.
The successful candidate will be an effective communicator and relationship builder, capable of working collaboratively with government agencies, private sector actors, development partners, and consortium members to achieve project objectives. They should demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience identifying project risks, supporting adaptive management, and ensuring timely delivery of project milestones.

About our offer
The gross annual salary range on offer for this role is from USD 11,244 – USD 12,852 gross per annum, depending on experience. Staff Benefits Summary
Working Conditions
All of our positions are based in one or more of GAIN’s designated offices as stated on our job advertisements. Successful candidates will be based in one of GAIN’s country offices and must have the existing right to live and work within a reasonably commutable distance of the relevant city / cities in which the role is advertised.
