SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Direct daily accounting workflows to ensure precise, real-time recording of all financial transactions and the absolute integrity of core banking system data.
- Maintain the General Ledger, execute month end closing procedures, reconcile balance sheets, and consolidate financial statements for Head Office.
- Oversee end-to-end payables and receivables, ensuring timely reconciliations; monitor cash collections and provide critical financial insights to the Budget & Treasury section.
- Manage the full fixed asset lifecycle, including depreciation and tagging; oversee payroll processing, ensuring flawless execution of statutory deductions and timely disbursements.
- Enforce institutional policies and NBE regulatory standards; serve as the primary liaison for internal/external audits, ensuring transparent documentation and seamless implementation of audit recommendations.
- Generate high-level management reports, including expense analysis and budget variance insights, to drive fiscal discipline and operational improvement.
- Supervise and mentor the Accounts team, fostering a high-performance culture through structured performance management including objective setting, monitoring, and annual appraisals while upskilling staff to increase operational capacity.
- Identify and implement strategic process improvements to streamline accounting workflows and enhance departmental efficiency.
- Certify the accuracy of all financial vouchers, checks, and payments, ensuring full adherence to established accounting standards and organizational controls.
- Submit timely progress reports to the Manager of the Accounts and Finance Department
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Salary: As per the Institution salary scale
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- MBA/MA/BA Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field. (Professional certification such as CPA or ACCA is highly advantageous).
- 5/7 years of relevant experience, including 3/4 years in a senior position, specifically within the microfinance industry.
TECHNICAL AND OTHER SKILLS
- Advanced knowledge of financial reporting, tax regulations, and microfinance accounting standards.
- Proven technical and managerial ability, sound judgment, and capacity to work effectively with diverse teams.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel.
- Demonstrated leadership and communication skills, promoting teamwork and integrity.
- High sense of ethics, professional conduct, and responsibility.
- Excellent written and oral communication, and reporting skills.
