Job Description

Dan Church Aid (DCA) DCA is a Danish Humanitarian and Development organisation working to assist and empower people affected by poverty and disasters to live a life in dignity. In Ethiopia, DCA’s area of works includes humanitarian response, food security, resilience building of vulnerable community members, and gender and capacity building of civil society organisations. DCA currently has its main office in Addis Ababa and field offices in Gambella, Afar, Waghimra and South Omo.

DCA Ethiopia Office is looking for a competent Field Driver based at Afar.

Reporting to:                    Finance & Admin Officer

Expected Start Date:       As soon as possible

Salary:                              According to DCA national staff salary scale

Overall Job purpose:

Support the DCA Afar Berhale project in the areas of Driving Services and related assignments. Support day to day Support functions of the field office team.  He/she is responsible for the smooth Driving service to the field office and proper management of the assigned Vehicle.

Engagement 

• Update vehicle log book
• Report to his supervisor whenever incidents are happened on vehicle and/or passengers.
• Check security situation and road condition before departure.
• He/she immediately report to DCA and/or insurance company or agent any accident or damage to the vehicle as deemed necessary.
• Ensure loading and unloading of the vehicle followed.

Delivery

• Ensure the vehicle is maintained and in good working condition and the timely service of the vehicles are carried.
• Ensure the required materials and tools are available for use.
• Ensures proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes, car washing, etc

Qualification:

• Technical Vocational education training ( License and Certificate ).
• Valid 3rd grade driving license (old curriculum ) or Public 1 driving license( new Curriculum)
• Minimum two years driving experience (4×4) including remote areas.
• Knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repair is mandatory.
• Demonstrated experience travelling to hardship areas with longer stay.
• Good command of verbal English ability to write short report
• Excellent interpersonal skills to promote effective collaboration within DCA team and across member and partner organizations.
• Strong personal integrity and commitment to accountability.
• Ability to speak and listen local language is mandatory.
• Experience in the local context is advantageous.
• NGO experience is preferred
• Experience in the local context is advantageous.
