Job Description
JOB OVERVIEW:
The principal objective of the Logistics Officer role is to ensure the logistics needs are met and that all logistical activities are done effectively, accurately, and on time. He/she will work closely with programming, finance, and other administration. All activities are carried out in line with logistics policies and procedures and according to any applicable donor, country office, and field-level guidelines.
MAIN ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implement vehicle policies and procedures for the use, dispatch, maintenance, driver selection and training, and safety plans.
- Ensure records of maintenance, mileage and use logs, incident reports, performance records, and evaluations for drivers.
- Supervising and organizing the fleet operations and preparing daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly reports on the fleet. Ensure strict compliance and enforcement of existing AP Fleet policies and procedures, supervise drivers, and coordinate logistics for field trips.
- Oversight of insurance, inspection, registration, and operations for all vehicles operating in the country to ensure that these are operated consistent with AP policies and country laws and regulations.
- Planning routes and schedules and booking staff movements in and out with the organization, allocating and recording resources and movement on the transport planning system. Communicating effectively with staff and responding to their requirements.
- Supervision of repairs & maintenance, refueling vehicles.
- Supervises facilities management and office operations to ensure a safe, clean, and efficient workplace for all AP staff and projects.
- Ensure accountable, timely, and cost-effective release of cargos along with personnel.
- Responsible for daily tracking of the vehicle log sheet; in charge of monthly compilation and submission of the log sheet.
Educational Qualification:
- Education: MA/Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or related fields.
- Experience: Proven experience
Experience:
- Over 6 years of progressive experience as a logistics manager or in supervisory roll
Skills Required
- Adaptable and able to work in a multicultural team
- Flexible and able to manage stress
- Self-driven with a solution-orientated approach
- Ability to train others
- Keen to learn and further develop own skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- MS Office product proficiency.
- Willingness to travel, if necessary, to support conference
