The Ethiopia Network of Women Shelters (ENWS) is a non-governmental, non-partisan network of women-led organizations working together to eliminate gender-based violence (GBV) and promote the rights, dignity, and empowerment of women and girls in Ethiopia.

Position Overview:

Ethiopian Network of Women Shelters (ENWS) is seeking a highly motivated Researcher with proven experience in conducting research, particularly on GBV or in conflict-affected settings. The successful candidate will design research tools, collect and analyze data, and produce a comprehensive report with actionable recommendations. Candidates must be able to operate as a legally registered consultancy or individual with a valid legal license.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop research methodology and data collection tools.
  • Conduct field research in conflict-affected areas, ensuring participant safety and confidentiality.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret qualitative and/or quantitative data.
  • Prepare detailed reports and present findings to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the organization to ensure alignment with program objectives.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • MA/MSc in Psychology, Social Anthropology, Sociology, Gender Studies, Social Science, and other related fields.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant research experience (MA holders); 10 years for BA holders.
  • Strong experience in research design, data collection, and report writing.
  • Knowledge of GBV issues, particularly in conflict-affected contexts.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in Amharic, Oromiffa, and/or Tigrinya is desirable.
  • Must be a legally registered consultancy or individual with a valid license.

Contract Duration: Short-term contract until research completion.
