Job Description

SOS Sahel Ethiopia jointly with Society for Education, Environment Development (SEED) obtained financial support from UN OCHA to implement a project entitled “Rebuilding Lives: Integrated Humanitarian Support for Returning IDPs in Horo Guduru Wollega zone, Abe Dongoro District”. The project objective is to strengthen the livelihoods, food security, and protection of returning internally displaced populations in Abe Dongoro district by delivering integrated, time-bound support—including agricultural inputs, animal health services, cash assistance, emergency shelter repair, GBV response, Mobile Health and Nutrition Team (MHNT), and WASH. The project will be in implementation from 01, December 2025 to 17, August 2026.

SOS Sahel Ethiopia, as part of its program implementation is seeking to employ interested, qualified, & experienced individual for the job positions mentioned hereunder:

Gender: Female

Job Purpose:

Under the supervision of the Gender and Protection Officers, the GBV Caseworker is responsible for providing direct GBV Caseworker is responsible for providing direct support and case management services to survivors of gender-based violence, including GBV case management and psychosocial support services, to at-risk women and girls and survivors of GBV, ensuring their safety and access to necessary resources.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments of survivors’ needs, develop and implement individualizedcare and safety plans, and provide ongoing support and followup to ensure the wellbeing of clients.
  • Maintain contact with relevant stakeholders, including community leaders and other service providers, to coordinate care and ensure comprehensive support for survivors.
  • Keep accurate and confidential records of all case management activities, ensuring compliance with ethical standards and data protection protocols.
  • Provide technical support and training to case management volunteers and community members to enhance their ability to assist survivors effectively.
  • Participate in awareness-raising campaigns and community mobilization efforts to address gender-based violence and promote survivor rights.

Safeguarding and Associated Policies and Procedures

Adherence to SOS Sahel Ethiopia and universally accepted core principles of Safeguarding, Code of Ethics and Conduct, Child Protection, PSEAH, and other relevant national and international policies and guidelines.

Remuneration: As per the organization salary scale and benefit packages.

Duty Base: Abe Dongor District of Horo Guduru Wollega Zone in Oromia Region

NB*: Knowledge of local languages – Afaan Oromo is required.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum of BSc or BA in Social Work, Psychology, or related field of studies.
  • Minimum of 3 years professional experience in supporting women and girls, particularly those affected by gender-based violence,
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and a commitment to gender equality,
  • Demonstrated qualifications, experience, or training in community mobilization activities.
