REPORTS TO: Finance Manager
DURATION: 6 months, starting as soon as possible

Purpose of the role
The Finance and Administrative Officer position is an exciting role that sits at the heart of the country office’s operations. With support from the Finance Manager, the successful candidate will contribute to managing our financial systems, ensuring effective controls and provide administrative support to the day-to-day operation of office. The role combines financial management with strong administrative skills. It involves financial reporting and accounting duties, supporting the Finance Manager in management and oversight of all financial functions of BBC Media Action and taking charge of administrative duties such as office and human resource management functions
Who we’re looking for
We are looking for an entry to middle level professional who combines a good knowledge of financial management with a strong understanding of how an office functions, especially in a development setting. The ideal candidate would have experience working with donor funding; can quickly adapt to a new working environment and culture; is a good team player with strong client orientation.
Main Duties
- Accounting (Processing payments, analyzing transactions, accounts-keeping, expenditure tracking, donor, statutory and organizational compliance in all areas of accounting, etc)
- Cash and Bank transactions (Laise with the banks, process in/out transactions, reconciliation, petty cash management, follow internal control procedures for cash/bank transactions, etc)
- Budgeting, forecasting and reporting (prepare cash forecasts, monitor usage, assist in preparing financial reports for internal and external purposes, participate in budget reviews, etc)
- Payroll (Prepare/manage payroll, focal point for payroll-related matters, etc)
- Compliance (statutory compliance— timely statutory payments, donor compliance, internal policies such as finance and procurement manuals, etc)
- Administration (Oversee office administration, including managing human resources, administrative documentation—staff contracts and other staff records, support recruitment, onboarding, ensure adherence to organizational and donor compliance policies.
- Training and capacity building for staff (Support training for staff to ensure compliance and staff development)
About You
Qualification, experience and competencies
- University degree from an accredited institution in Finance, Business Management, or Administration
- 2–3 years of experience in a similar role
- Demonstrated skills in using financial management tools and applications
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify and address issues effectively
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues to achieve goals
- Proactive and willing to take initiative
- Strong planning and organizational skills, able to manage multiple priorities
- Clear and effective communication skills
- Eagerness to learn and continuously improve
