Job Description
Background
The Center for Accelerated Women’s Economic Empowerment (CAWEE), established in 2004, is a pioneering organization focused on empowering women engaged in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Ethiopia, especially those involved in export activities. With close to two decades of impactful work, CAWEE continues to support women-owned and managed businesses, with the vision ofcultivating globally competitive Ethiopian women entrepreneurs.
The Mabqat Program
CAWEE is currently implementing the Mabqat Program as part of a consortium, in partnership with
Mastercard Foundation, Ethiopian Enterprise Development (EED) and with the lead of the program PETCO Ethiopia. Mabqat (ማብቃት) translates to empowerment, aligning with the program’s mission to support young women and men in securing dignified and meaningful employment across key manufacturing sectors leather, textile, handcraft, agriculture and solid waste management.

- 240,000 youth engaged in work (80% young women)
- 6,355 SMEs supported (40% to receive financial access)

Program Objectives
The Mabqat Program aims to:
- Enhance yout skills, with a focus on young women, to align with market-driven demand in the manufacturing sector.
- Increase SME productivity and competitiveness, promoting job creation across priority sectors.
- Strengthen the financial ecosystem to improve SME access to innovative and affordable financial products and services.
- Improve the enabling environment by fostering collaboration among stakeholders supporting manufacturing-focused SMEs.
Training Initiative under SME Capacity Building
As part of Intervention Area 1: SME Capacity Building, CAWEE seeks to engage a qualified Entrepreneurial Mindset Training Institution/ Trainer to deliver high-quality, practical, and motivational training for Mabqat Program participants involved in the textile and garment and leather, aimin capabilities.to strengthen their entrepreneurial thinking, innovation and business management
Objectives of the Entrepreneurial Mindset Training
The primary objectives of this initiative are to:
- Develop participants’ entrepreneurial attitudes, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
- Equip entrepreneurs and SMEs with tools to identify opportunities, manage risks, and drive sustainable growth.
- Promote resilience, adaptability, and innovative thinking among small business owners.
- Strengthen participants’ leadership, decision-making, and strategic planning abilities.
Scope of Work
The selected Entrepreneurial Mindset Training Institution/ trainer will be responsible for:
Curriculum Development
Design a comprehensive curriculum covering key thematic areas, including:
- Understanding the entrepreneurial mindset and growth-oriented thinking
- Idea generation, innovation and opportunity recognition
- Goal setting and business vision development
- Strategic decision-making and problem-solving
- Leadership and team management
- Resilience, motivation and adaptability in business
- Business ethics and sustainability
- Human Resources Management
Training Delivery
Facilitate interactive and participatory training sessions, workshops and group exercises for:
- New and aspiring entrepreneurs
- Existing SME owners seeking to strengthen their entrepreneurial capabilities
- Women and youth-led businesses under the Mabqat Program
Dynamic Training Methodology
Develop learner-centered training materials and resources, including:
- Printed and digital manuals
- Case studies and role-play activities
- Online learning modules
- Practical toolkits and exercises
Assessment and Certification
- Develop and apply assessment tools to evaluate learning outcomes (ie. Pre/post test).
- Provide certificates of participation upon successful completion of the training.
Target Audience
The training programs will primarily target:
- Mabqat Program participants (Garemnt Textile) business sectors.
- Entrepreneurs and SME owners seeking to enhance their entrepreneurial mindset.
- Young women and men aspiring to start or expand their businesses.
Duration of Training, Target number and location Programs
The training institution/ trainer should offer programs of varied lengths to suit different learner needs, including
- Short courses: 1–2days
- Target Number: 100 trainees maximum per each Coordination Center. Single training session should not hold more th n 50 trainees

- Hawassa
- Bahir Dar
- Dire Dawa
- Mekelle

Note: All budgets must include and consider the location of the training, travel, trainer(s) accommodation and perdiem. Breakdown should include amount per trainee
About You
Required Qualifications of the Training Institution
The training institution must demonstrate:
- Proven expertise in entrepreneurship development and mindset training.
- Trainers with practical experience in business coaching, mentoring, and facilitation.
- Adequate facilities and resources for interactive training delivery.
- A track record of delivering similar entrepreneurship or business development training programs.
Proposal Submission Requirements
Interested training institutions/ trainers are invited to submit a proposal that includes:
- Detailed description of the proposed training program.
- Curriculum outlines and training methodology.
- Profiles and qualifications of trainers.
- Description of available and learning tools.
- Proposed budget with breakdown of costs. (Per person, day and locations of the training delivery locations/regions)
- Evidence of previous successful training engagements (testimonials or reports).
