About the EYWM Program:
The Enabling Young Women and Men (EYWM) to Find Dignified and Fulfilling Work in Manufacturing Program is dedicated to fostering the growth and development of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) within five key sub-sectors in Ethiopia: Solid Waste Management, Agro and Food Processing, Handicrafts and Leather, and Textile and Garment. Operating across five strategic clusters—Addis Ababa, Mekelle, Bahir Dar, Dire Dawa, and Hawassa—the program focuses on building the capacity of SMEs to sustainably create and improve job opportunities. A core component of the program is enhancing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to better equip young women and men for successful workforce entry and facilitate their transition from education to employment.
Furthermore, the EYWM program works to establish a robust financial ecosystem that provides SMEs with access to tailored financial services, thereby supporting their growth and generating employment. Ultimately, the program anticipates positively impacting the lives of approximately 240,000 young people (80% women, 10% marginalized groups, and 10% men) aged 15–35 within Ethiopia’s manufacturing sector.
To ensure youth empowerment and their active participation in program implementation and policy advocacy, we are seeking passionate and committed young individuals to join our Youth Advisory Group (YAG).
Why we need Youth Advisory Group (YAG)?
They’re essential for truly listening to and understanding the perspectives of young people. Think of a YAG as a bridge, connecting a program directly with the youth it aims to serve. It gives young people a real voice, allowing them to share their ideas, provide valuable feedback, and actually shape the program’s direction. In the context of the EYWM program, the YAG empowers its members to actively participate in decision-making, including things like SME selection, and ultimately contribute to the program’s overall success. They’re not just recipients of the program; they become active partners in its development and implementation.
As a member of the YAG, you will be expected to:
