01. Library Head

Currently the university college is trying to recruiting the right candidate who is befitting for the position of Library Head; accordingly, any interested professional who can meet the following criteria can apply for the position.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees the selection and organization of library materials based on one’s knowledge of a wide variety of scholarly and public information sources.
  • Prepares and submits the annual budget of the office to the VPAA and administers the approved budget.
  • Implements the policies and directives laid down by the university college pertaining to the library during day, evening and summer programs of the university college.
  • Continually evaluates the efficacy of existing rules and practices regarding the work of the office and recommends modifications where necessary to the VPAA.
  • Oversees the management and planning of the library.
  • Provides guidelines on the technical processing aspect dealing with collection, management, coordination, cataloguing, and processing of books, journals and ICT materials on one hand and the readers services aspect on the other.
  • Supervises assistants who prepare cards, computer records or other access tools that direct users to resources.
  • Compiles list of books, periodicals, articles and audiovisual materials on particular subjects, analyze collections and recommend materials to faculties.
  • Collects and organizes books, manuscripts and other materials in the fields of the university college.
  • Spearheads the maintenance of computerized data bases for the library.
  • Ensures that library patrons get proper assistance in finding information.
  • Trains staff in the workings of the library and monitor and evaluate the same for efficient service.
  • Responding to departmental needs, orders books and periodicals in English that are utilized by recognized international institutions of higher learning.
  • Identifies, builds and updates a database of suppliers of books, periodicals and IT sources of information, and develop criteria for the selection of suppliers of books, periodicals and other sources of information and submit the same to the VPAA.
  • Computerizes the workings of the library keeping up with the latest developments in this application of ICT within the library.
  • Ensures that the facilities of the library are kept repaired.
  • Ensures maximum care for the books and other learning resources of the library during use and storage.
  • Oversees and ensures the cataloguing of resources and the accounting of each resource in the library.
  • Ensures that all books are sequentially shelved constantly so that no patron misses them from the shelves.
  • Develops the rules to govern the use of the library by students and the faculty an implement the same following an endorsement by the Senate.
  • Ensures the correct and timely acquisition, accession and cataloguing of all information resources.
  • Explores opportunities of e‐library and online learning that dovetail with the university college’s academic plan and make proposals to the VPAA for application.
  • Leads the ICT use within the library.
  • Liaises with the various faculties on an ongoing basis and cooperates in facilitating their requests on time.
  • Ensures the cleanliness, freshness and ventilation of the library at all times.
  • Ensures that all staff members are approachable and both staff members and users of the library carry themselves with the kind of decency that does not go counter to the standard of cleanliness, ambience, quiet and comfort of the library
  • Ensures the safety and security of all resources in the library and oversee the binding and rebinding of books.
  • Oversees a supportive reference section.
  • Upholds to the values, vision and mission of Hope Enterprises and Hope University College and ensures the advancement of the same at the university college.
  • Engages in other duties as assigned by the VPAA.

Qualification

  • Library Information Science, Information Technology, Information Science, Information System, Management Information System, Computer Science, Database Administration, Statics, software Engineering in BSc or Above.
  • At least Two-year experience as a library head in HEIS.

02. Quality Assurance Officer

Currently the university college is trying to recruit the right candidate who is befitting for the position of Quality Assurance Officer; accordingly, any interested professional who can meet the following criteria can apply for the position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Develops benchmarks of academic excellence drawing on government policies and global standards of academic quality in teaching, publication and research.

  • Leads the development of quality assurance policy, strategies and manual.
  • Ensuring the implementation of the quality assurance policy and strategies
  • Monitors and evaluates the academic subsystem on regular basis and submits recommendations for improvements and reports.
  • Designs and implements Monitoring and Evaluation systems and activities of the relevant units/divisions of the UC.
  • Produces its own guideline or working documents and implement when approved
  • Conducts institutional quality audit and ensuring the development of self-evaluation (SED) document on timely basis.
  • Follows up, monitors and evaluates annual performance of HEUC and major units.
  • Conducts institutional quality audit and ensures the development of self-evaluation document.
  • Confirms that the quality assurance process of HEUC complies with national and international accepted standards.
  • Develops quality assurance plan and submit same for approval.
  • Coordinates and supports the quality assurance efforts of every academic and administrative units of the UC.
  • Undertakes planned and systematic review of the instructional process at the UC to determine acceptable standards of education are being maintained and enhanced.
  • Coordinates and conducts quality assurance training for the staff of the UC.
  • Submits a periodic report on the activities of the Office.
  • Upholds to the values, vision and mission of HEUC and ensures the advancement of the UC.

Qualifications: –

  • MA in Education, Educational Management, Educational Leadership and Related Fields, from a recognized university
  • Minimum three years and above experience as quality assurance officer in Higher Education Institutes (HEIs).

03. Director, Research and Community Service

Currently the university college is trying to recruit the right candidate who is befitting for the position of Director, Research and Community Service; accordingly, any interested professional who can meet the following criteria can apply for the position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • formulate strategies and policies dictating research endeavors, publications, and community service-related tasks, and following approval ensure the dissemination of research results;
  • provide co-ordination and leadership to ensure the highest possible standards of research and original scholarly work so as to bring national and international recognition to the university college in short and long terms;
  • guide issues related to research and community outreach services and conduct training workshops on research methods and research writing and preparation of teaching materials;
  • prepare the code of ethics governing/safeguarding research and intellectual property rights;
  • specify priorities for research at the level of the university college;
  • set guidelines for the approval of staff research proposals in the UC;
  • plan and implement at least four regular research seminars and conferences in a semester, which among others may include multi-disciplinary research seminar and students’ research forum;
  • Plan and implement at least two consultancy and training programs per semester for a charge or grant on behalf of the university college.
  • Encourage the staff to publish in national and regional journals and ensure their recognition when they do publish.
  • Post reputable journals that our teaching staff may contribute articles to and hold seminars on popularizing these scholarly outlets.
  • ensure the appropriate academic standard of publications;
  • establish relationships with academic staff in similar local and international institutions which are engaged in research activities with an aim to exchanging experiences with one another;
  • encourage Academic Departments to engage in research activities and follow-up the progresses;
  • promote the publication of outstanding theses and dissertations;
  • prepare and submit to the Office of the President policy and strategy documents for the development of teaching/learning materials, including textbooks, references, etc.; and
  • advise the President on all matters pertaining to research, publications, and community services;
  • teach at least two courses at the graduate school per semester and take a minimum of five master’s thesis for advice per year.
  • Offer colloquia to the faculty and interested students on topics of interest.
  • Be in charge of all matters that pertain to community service.
  • Plan and host at least two community events per semester and report about such activities.
  • Write quarterly and annual reports on happenings within the office.
  • Based on the guidelines of the charter, loo for research grants on behalf of the university college and align qualified staff to do the work with approval by the President.
  • Plan and submit project proposals for funding, administer research funds/grants as efficiently and effectively as possible.
  • Propose the development of market-driven products and services in the area of research and community service;
  • Perform all other duties assigned to him/her by the immediate supervisor.
