MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
35%:Support learning and adaptation of SBCC strategies and materials
- Support strategic guidance to the SPIR-II SBCC approaches and interventions.
- Support testing of new SBCC approach and communication channels and other learning process to refine SBCC strategies and intervention with the P- 1 -Team
- Develop/ Adopt relevant SBCC Materials, Job Aids & tools and pretest, feedback based on learning and experience from previous programming and/or R&I period pilots in close collaboration with technical staff and stakeholders.
- Refine SBCC materials and interventions that are inclusive and tailored to literate, semi-literate and illiterate populations and appropriate communication channels.
- Integrate relevant messaging into and manage the use of SBCC tools and materials across the project.
- Support the development of innovative new approaches to SBCC, including using Technology if needed.
30%: Capacity building and Technical Support
- Coach and identify technical assistance need and guide/ consultants implementing partners to the development & implementation of SBCC interventions and materials.
- Conduct training for field program staff at Regional, Zonal/Woreda and Kebele levels.
on SBCC methodologies and their integration and application
- Facilitate capacity building interventions and cascaded training for GoE Ministry of Health counterparts at different administrative levels.
- Support Regional Program staff to consistently provide high quality technical support and follow up for the implementation of comprehensive SBCC strategies to support community engagement.
10%: Partnership /coordination and collaboration
- Mapping and network with other relevant SBCC learning platforms to exchange ideas and learning from SPIR II research and experience.
- Work closely with technical staff, other BHA funded project. Gov’t and other stakeholder for SBCC Material harmonization
- Collaborate and exchange information with FMOH, other SBCC program experts and academic institution
- Contribute to PSNP-5 program SBCC related dialogue and strategy and policy engagement with key stakeholders and partners
- Actively engaged in partnership with national & international SBCC technical forums and working groups/SBCC cluster that are relevant to SPIR-II .
15% : MEL support /Quality Assurance and routine monitoring
- Work closely with MEL team, identify and track key performance indicators and share the improvement area for respective management team and technical team for action
- Work closely with Technical Advisors &MEL team interventions on outcome mapping and tracking exercises to establish and track contribution of SBCC interventions to SPIR-II expected outcomes and document lessons learned, evaluate impact and modify SBCC approaches as needed
- Contribute for development of quality assurance monitoring processes and tools and identify capacity gaps, and improving delivering capacity of staff on SBCC interventions
- Provide Technical Guidance for Monitoring, Evaluation and learning team and other staff to design and carry out assessments and annual progress reviews and synthesize the findings for program improvement
10% : Knowledge Management
- In collaboration with technical advisors and gov’t partners, identify key challenges, best practices/ promising and new/innovative approaches to document, share, publish and position for scale up.
- Identify and network with other relevant SBCC learning platforms to exchange information/evidence, and share SPIR II learning and experiences.
- Document and share key SBCC learning with other RFSAs, Ethiopia-based researchers and other stakeholders.
- Support the review, synthesis and write-up of SBCC intervention results for quarterly and annual reports.
KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE
Required Professional Experience
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in designing and implementing social and behavior Change strategies on integrated program (Nutrition ,Gender & food security interventions) and demonstrated expertise in Nutrition & SBCC donor-funded development programs
- Have 3-5 years of extensive experience in developing evidence based Health &Nutrition SBCC strategies and tools and working with INGOs Academic and research institute
- Experience of USAID-funded programming (Food for Peace, or Feed the Future or others)
- Strong knowledge and skills on quantitative and qualitative operations research on behavioral change approaches and experience working closely with academic and/or other research institutions. and synthesis, of result and use in developing /refining SBCC strategies and tools
- Technical experience in Health & nutrition SBCC tool design, and review in three languages (English, Amharic and Afaan oromo)
- Demonstrated field experience in story writing, documentation of promising practices
- Technical trainings preferred: on SBCC strategies and tool designing
- Strong interpersonal, networking and facilitation skills.
- Excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills.
- Health and Nutrition professional with an advanced (Master’s) degree in Public Health, Nutrition or related field.
- Maters Degree in Social Behavioral science /Health promotion with minimum experience working in integrated nutrition and food security program SBCC strategies
Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications
- Knowledge of community-based health interventions including , Community based Participatory Nutrition Promotion, Care Groups, dialogue-based counseling techniques to address nutrition during the 1000 window and positive deviance approach to improve complementary feeding are strongly preferred.
Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement
