About Deborah Foundation
Established in 2019 Deborah Foundation is a registered non-profit organization with a mission to improve the lives of children with Down Syndrome and other intellectual disabilities through support in the areas of Health, Education and Policy Advocacy.
Under the Deborah Foundation, Deborah Academy is one of a few schools in Ethiopia that offer inclusive education. We aim to create a safe learning environment that promotes diversity and tolerance for students with Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities. The academy aspires to be a hub for fostering the growth of successful, creative, and tolerant individuals.
Summary
A Special Needs Education Facilitator will play a vital role in supporting our students’ academic, social, and emotional growth. He/she will work collaboratively with a team of educators to design and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique needs.
Responsibilities:
- Co-plan and co-teach lessons alongside the Main, subject and assistant teachers, ensuring alignment with the
IEP goals. - Develop and utilize creative and engaging instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning styles of
students with intellectual disabilities. - Provide individualized instruction and support to students in small group or one-on-one settings.
- Implement positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS) to promote positive classroom behavior.
- Collaborate with related service providers (speech therapists, occupational therapists, etc.) to ensure a
comprehensive approach to each student’s education. - Maintain accurate and detailed student records, documenting progress and areas for improvement.
- Communicate effectively and build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Foster a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment that celebrates student individuality.
Part-time (3 days a week)

About You
Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Needs Education (Inclusive Education), Early Childhood Education, or a
related field (required). - Minimum one year of experience working with students with intellectual disabilities (preferred).
- Strong understanding of evidence-based instructional practices for students with special needs.
- Proven ability to differentiate instruction and create individualized learning experiences.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, compassion, and a positive attitude.
- Proficiency in using assistive technology (desired).
