Job specific roles and responsibilities
Program planning, activity scheduling, implementation and verification (10%)
· Prepare the project annual work plan (DIP and POP) for the respective woreda, submit to thematic manager for approval, discuss with the woreda agriculture bureau and related partners, submit the final version to the woreda partners and ensure it is filed for reference, and documentation · Ensure that Growth through Nutrition activities are included in woreda annual implementation plans. · Will review TORs of the trainings, RM and JSS, communicate the schedule in advance to the relevant government sector, facilitate the arrangement for the session, prepare attendance, verify attendees on attendance sheet. · Collaborate with Growth through Nutrition’s Zonal Livelihood and Nutrition Coordinator and government partner and ensure that there is joint planning and coordinated implementation with layering and convergence partners in respective woredas. · Plan and discuss with Livelihood and Nutrition ZCs to support allocated resources reach the right beneficiaries, in a timely manner.
Capacity Building, Technical Support, (20%) · Develop terms of reference, facilitate all relevant trainings, exchange visit, review meeting and tool-guided (standardized), joint supportive supervision that will be conducted at zonal, woreda and community levels. · Ensure health workers in health facilities for implementation of Growth through Nutrition are trained as per the national guideline · Ensure the provision of appropriate mentoring and on job training for Health workers at targeted Health facilities using agreed tools. · Provides technical support through regular and joint supportive supervision to Woreda health office, health facilities and communities. · Support Zone Health Department and WrHO in mentoring and follow-up of the trained HW and community in implementing planned nutrition and WASH activities at all level (zones, facility community). · Coordinate and technically support zonal, woreda, and local stakeholders to assess needs related to Nutrition and Livelihoods and support the implementation of Growth through Nutrition · Monitor nutrition-specific services data of Growth through Nutrition supported woredas and ensure utilization of key nutrition services and data analysis at the health center and health post levels to inform programmatic changes to improve coverage of high impact interventions.
Program integration and implementation (25%)
· Ensure that the National Food and Nutrition Strategy, nutrition guidelines, and minimum nutrition standard, WASH in the context of nutrition & QI on nutrition specific services, SBCC specific to the program/nutrition, revised HMIS, and monitoring tools are implemented in respective target zones and Woredas. · Ensure that Nutrition multi-sectoral coordination is strengthened, support the health team to mainstream nutrition in to health, agriculture and WASH and education (on adolescent nutrition) related program activities are coordinated at all levels. · In collaboration with M&E coordinator, strengthen the capacity of Zonal, Woreda health office and community in nutrition and health information management system for decision making · Support and ensure that Nutrition agenda is focused in Zonal, woreda and PHCU level review meeting conducted in a regular basis. · In collaboration with agriculture/livelihood coordinators and SBCC managers ensure the effective implementation and integration of Nutrition, WASH, Livelihood, SBCC, and Gender components into the existing structures of the Agricultural/Health system. · Promote continued attention of the health/agriculture sector by strengthening sectoral capacity for regular (continued) targeting of mothers and children in the 1000 days using platforms such as PHCU review meetings, woreda level health office meetings, field days and community mobilization events as appropriate to the local context · Ensure and support WASH business activities implemented by PSI in respective operational woredas reached to targeted MVHHs. · Ensure that all donor compliance and save the children rules and regulations are strictly followed during day to day program operations.
Learning, Documenting and Reporting (15%) · Timely submit periodic reports including training reports, review-meeting proceedings, assessment findings and field travel reports to regional office for documentation. · Facilitate virtual and/or on-site briefs/visits for CO/FO/partners/donor staff of their catchment woredas by keeping an updated record of woredas’ overall nutrition situation, nutritional status of vulnerable groups, status of health and nutrition services and project activities implementation and documented · Document and share best practices on QI project multi-sectoral coordination on systematic and regular basis as agreed with their line managers
Crosscutting activities (15%) · In geographic areas where applicable, engage in the whole cycle of grant-under-grant implementation, project designing to follow-up, close-out and proper documentation of lessons · Similarly, where emergency response is activated by the project, support concept note development, and ensure and document integrated implementation of emergency and development activities in their catchment woredas · Coordinate, support and ensure that Multisectoral Coordination platform is established and functional in Growth through Nutrition implementation woredas. · Ensure the proper planning and implementation of Growth through Nutrition crosscutting activities – gender, learning agenda, sustainable approaches, and convergence and layering of multi-sector nutrition interventions. · Support Zonal Livelihood Coordinator in the process of collaborating with Gender Specialist and Gender Focal Persons/taskforce to deliver gender-sensitive agriculture and livelihood activities at woreda and kebele levels. · Collaborate with Growth through Nutrition and other partners working in nutrition specific intervention, WASH, and SBCC activities in the woreda that support Growth through Nutrition’s layering and convergence approach. · Work with other relevant USAID funded projects on convergence and layering activity in collaboration with the Zonal Health and Nutrition Coordinator, document the success, produce updates and share to the Sr RPM
Sustainability issues, handover of activity (15%)
· Ensure smooth handover (transition) mechanism that ensures sustainable implementation of proven interventions by supported sectors, as project reaches to its end · Jointly with woreda agriculture, identify available input suppliers (seed, seedling, Poultry farm etc.) in the operation area, undertake assessment of the quality of their product document and link them with the beneficiaries (MF, MVHHs) · Work Jointly with the woreda partners and link SGs with the available microfinance institutions · Ensure smooth handover (transition) mechanism that ensures sustainable implementation of proven interventions by supported sectors, as project reaches to its end · Document all supports provided by Growth through Nutrition in the specific woreda (trainings, inputs, RM,), produce terminal report, submit to thematic manager and then share to the woreda partners with your recommendation on follow-up and action point to be taken · |
Job Requirements
MINIMUM QUALFICATION, EXPEREINCE, COMPETENCIES
Education qualification
· Minimum of first degree in Nutrition, public health or Nursing and demonstrated experience in Nutrition, maternal and child health, WASH and SBCC.
Experience
· At least 6 years of experience implementing in NGO with experience/knowledge of supporting USAID funded grants with good understanding of Health Sector Development Plan (HSDP IV), National Nutrition program (NNP) and other health related policies & strategies.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITY
· Significant training experience (e.g. MIYCN, QI, Coaching and mentoring, and WASH related etc) with community mobilization in support of Health and WASH related programs. Experience in conducting trainings, training of trainers, and organizational capacity building is an Asset.
· Strong written and oral communication skills, as well as the proven ability to work collaboratively with many organizations and stakeholders. Experience working with private sector, government agencies and beneficiaries on livelihoods programs.
· Knowledge and learning ability to integrate gender issues in nutrition focused interventions
· Demonstrated skills in partnership building and interpersonal communication.
· Existing relationship with Zonal health and agriculture offices is preferred.
· Excellent and demonstrated skills in computer Microsoft office applications: xx Word, Excel, PowerPoint and outlooks, emails
· Excellent in report writing skills
· Knowledge of local language is mandatory
