Job Description
FUNCTIONAL SUMMARY
The Project Officer of NEWA will work in providing technical/operational support to a project/program activity implementation. He/she will work under the supervision of the Program Officer in all the activities related to the project/program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, monitor, evaluate and document new and ongoing projects.
- Prepare long and short-term (annual, quarterly, monthly, etc) planning activities (program plan and budget preparation) of the organization.
- Organize, manage and conduct various training activities and mentoring activities for local institutions in different parts of the country.
- Liaise and collaborate with partner organizations (donors, CSOs, government agencies, and offices at different levels).
- Represent the organization at various forums, such as membership and partner meetings, workshops, seminars, etc.
- Prepare briefing notes to the Executive Director regularly on monthly basis, to keep him abreast of program/project progress and performance.
- Prepare quarter and annual reports to be submitted to government bodies and donors.
- Ensure that field staff under his responsibility prepare and submit monthly/quarter/annual plans and reports in time.
- Play a leading role in the development of the strategic planning and management document.
- Facilitate training on project management cycle, advocacy, coordination, and networking as well as basic training.
- Periodically review and update training manuals, and methodologies and incorporate comments from trainees collected during the training process.
- Develop TOR for professional/consultancy services.
- Follow up commissioned professional/consultancy services, review, comment, and ensure that they are done according to the TOR and the expectation of the organization.
- Monitor and report on relevant activities and impact
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Manager
ACCOUNTABILITY
a. Supervision: works independently and in project reporting on a regular basis to Program Manager
b. Decision Making: is responsible for logistics of relevant activities
c. Responsibility for Data or Information: relevant data and material maintenance and security
d. Responsibility for Assets: all assigned office equipment, their maintenance, and security

Job Requirements
Professional/Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in the field of Social Science (Rural Development/Sociology/Anthropology/Development Management/Economics and other relevant disciplines)
- Masters’ Degree in the field of Social Science (Rural Development/Sociology/Anthropology/Development Management/Economics and other relevant disciplines)
Relevant Experience
- Proven experience in project design, implementation and follow up
Length of Experience
- At least 2- 4 years

- Good interpersonal and communication skills, solid Judgment; critical thinking skills; a sense of teamwork
