Job Description

 

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

 

Management of Medical Storage and Supply Chain

·       Ensures that Save the Children supply chain procedures and policies are implemented and adhered to

·       Set up and manage the medical warehouse, optimising medicine storage conditions and organization to ensure safety and effectiveness of drugs and medical supplies

·       Responsible to handle the prepositioned medical drugs and supplies properly

•    Ensures daily update bin cards and stock cards; supplies are released with approved stock release formats and proper documentation

·      Ensures accurate quantification and procurement planning including sourcing for health commodities following Save the Children Policies

·      Ensures field-based consumption reporting are completed in a timely manner and advise on rational use of medicines based on this.

·       Ensures high quality standards of health commodity management are met including Good Distribution Practices – which will include warehousing, cold chain management, stock rotation and control, pipeline management, consumption monitoring and ordering.

·       Ensures safe disposal of expired drug and medical supplies, working with the regional health bureau where applicable

Ensure accurate reporting of drug movement stocks and consumption 

·       Ensures compliance with transport activity for medical items with national and international legislations and customs.

·       Supervises MHNT to ensuring safe and accurate dispensing process and patients are counselled on how to take prescribed treatment providing capacity building where required

·       Monitors medication safety across the primary health care teams, SWAN partners on reporting medical incidents

·       Oversees medication use in the field

 

·       Carry out any other tasks as required in line with the technical area.

Job Requirements

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

Qualifications and experience

 

Essential

·       Diploma/ BSc in Pharmacy with COC certificate plus three years related experience

·       Experience monitoring rational use of medicines.

·       Good knowledge of general logistics and willingness to multitask.

·       Strong communicator and team member.

·       Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

·       Ability to work in and maintain a positive team dynamic in insecure environments.

·       Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and establish harmonious and effective working relationships both within and outside the organization.

·       Experience of supply chain management

·       Flexible, positive and proactive approach to work

·       Willing to travel and work from other locations as required.

 

Desirable

·       Written and spoken English

Previous experience working for an International NGO
