Background |
|
UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls, the empowerment of women, and the achievement of equality between women and men as equal partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action as well as peace and security. As such, UN Women seeks to complement and enhance the capacity of other UN entities to serve their respective mandates to deliver on gender equality. In Ethiopia, to ensure gendered response to a worsening humanitarian situation, the UN Women Ethiopia Country Office (ECO) is working actively to prevent violence against women and girls through focus on participation, protection, as well as recovery and relief efforts. Within this context, a particular emphasis is being placed on the gendered impacts of conflict, such as meaningful access to justice for women and girls, gender-based violence in emergencies (GBViE), protection against sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA), accountability to affected populations (AAP) and community-based complaint mechanisms (CBCMs). This is because the sudden and drastic changes in the humanitarian situation in Ethiopia have warranted an immediate revision of humanitarian programme priorities of the UN Women Ethiopia Country Office. Indeed, within this new emergency setting, UN Women – as national level co-chairs of the Ethiopia PSEA Network – is looking for a consultant to provide training on SEA Risk Assessments to ensure all network members and focal points understand how to conduct their quarterly SEA risk assessments as required by the endorsed PSEA Network Strategy and Workplan for 2021-22. The Consultant will develop training materials, facilitate multiple training sessions, and provide technical support. | |

Under the direct supervision of the Gender in Humanitarian Action (GiHA) Unit’s Programme and Communication Specialists at UN Women, the Consultant will support the Ethiopia PSEA Network by developing and facilitating 4 individual 2 hour trainings sessions over two days for PSEA Network members and focal points. The materials developed and trainings facilitated should provide a clear overview of how to plan and implement risk assessments to identify SEA risks at all stages of the programme cycle or a particular intervention.
