Main Purpose |
Provide nursing care and general management / organization at the MSF facility according to MSF protocols and practices, Health facility regulations and operational guidelines. Universal hygiene standards-precautions are applied in order to ensure quality and continuity of care for MSF beneficiaries according to project scope and limitations. |
Accountabilities |
- Knowing, promoting, implementing and following up the universal hygiene standards/ precautions and general hygiene and cleaning are properly performed at MSF health facility.
- Respecting medical secrets and confidentiality always.
- When needed, Provide to patient’s treatment plan to all the medical cases according to medical prescriptions or clinical officer prescriptions. Assisting patients according to their conditions.
- Together with the medical team in the health facility supported by MSF, participating in implementation of daily rounds to check patient’s conditions and administer medication.
- Identifying Sexually Gender Based Violence victims and referring them to MSF clinical officer, medical doctor and midwife making sure they access the care as per MSF SV protocols; thereafter following these patients’ up after receiving the first SV care.
- Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) Kit is applied as per MSF protocol.
- Report any patient deterioration to the treating MSF MD/Clinical officer when there is not resolution of medical complains about patients.
- Manage the storage in the department under his/her management and do regular stock request to NAM Hospital to replenish the used stock to make sure it runs smoothly, and the stock is used with rationality.
- Regular inventory of stock and equipment in use is done every month and reported to NAM.
· Organize in daily basis patient’s transport through the social worker and Log base whenever the patients are discharged.
· Liaise with Nursing team supervisor and Log team to organize the IPC activities in the health facility supported by MSF.
· Follow all MSF HR related regulations such PMS, internal regulations and health policies for staff.
MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities |
In brief, MSF proposed a project that will provide essential primary health care to at least 72,586 people, of which 24,028 of them are IDPs for two years, with an emphasis on reproductive, maternal and child health, the project will focus on improving access to quality preventative and curative health care services, lifesaving services to pregnant and lactating women and children.
The location of the project will be Sababoru. We are targeting an HC Darme as a core facility with 24/7 services with secondary health care capacity. And 15 kebeles for outreach with a clear referral mechanism to 4 less equipped HCs and from them to Darme HC and further referral to Hawassa or Negele hospital
The specialized nurse is responsible for the quality of care, maintenance and organization of NICU, OPD, ER and OR, Triage, General ward and ITFC and the supervision of nurses with the support of the NAM Hospital according to MSF protocols, values, in order to provide a high-quality care to the patients. Promotes and restores patients’ health by developing day-to-day management and long-term planning of the patient care area; directing and developing staff; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary professional staffs; providing physical and psychological support for patients and families. S/He will support the NTS in charge IPC – Supervise the day to day implementation of the standard precautions in all spaces, including rooms (bed spacing), WASH facilities (toilets, showers, hand washing points), kitchen, etc. – Supervise all cleaning operation – including weekly replacement of blankets and sheets and weekly mattresses sun-bath. Related to medical activities: – Ensure the correct functioning of all the nursing activities at Darme Centralized HC and Support team in medical activities, in case of need. – Supervise the orientation of beneficiaries at admission, in particular: Waiting area, triage, OPD and IPD in collaboration with the HP team. – Ensure that the patient flow is known and the Patient waiting time is minimized. – Support the referral nurse in recording all referrals of patients to Adola in a specific database. Other tasks: – Organize an orderly conservation of medical files, ensuring confidentiality of patients’ personal data and information. – Supervise the provision to the patients of 3 meals per day through an external catering or Darme HC kitchen, according to the medical needs of each patient, and regularly controlling the quality of the food provided – In accordance with the Project Admin-Fin manager and with MAM validation, set up a system for a regular payment of per diem and money advance, i.e. to pay medical expenses – Ensure that stock cards for NFI, materials needed for social and recreational activities, stationary materials are updated at least once a week and that any mismatch between physical and theoretical stock is reported to NAM Hospital. – Communicate any damage/failure inside the Health center to the Project Log Manager, and ensure it is fixed in the shortest time possible – Promptly communicate any security incident related to beneficiaries or staff to Project Coordinator. – Ensure together with the NAM and MAM, SGBV and External Medical consultation data collection, data entry in specific database (HMIS and Excel tools), quality control, and reporting to PMR according on weekly and monthly basis.

Job Requirements
EDUCATION
Desirable bachelor’s in science of Nursing with valid relevant professional license
EXPERIENCE
Desirable 2 years of previous demonstrable experiences as Nurse, nursing supervisor or manager and previous experience in other NGOs, Associations or international companies
Desirable experience in assisting patients in multiples needs – NGOs and/or social services settings.
LANGUAGES: Oromifa and English are essential.
