URGENT INTERNAL/EXTERNALVACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Mekdim Ethiopia National Association (MENA) is an indigenous national non-governmental, non-political and not for profit humanitarian organization working in the area of HIV/AIDS prevention, care, treatment and support services for the past 30 years throughout the country.

Accordingly, MENA is now in process of recruiting employees for its Global-Fund/GC7-HIV Prevention Project sub-granted from CCRDA aimed at “Expanding Access to Comprehensive HIV Prevention and Care Services for Key and Priority Populations in Selected High-Incidence Woredas/Towns”  of South Ethiopia and Oromia Regional State Government; thus, the organization invites interested and competent candidates on the following vacant posts:

Job Description for DIC Guard

  • Reports To: DIC Coordinator or DIC Nurse

  • Salary: Negotiable
  1. Job Purpose

The Guard will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the Drop-In Center (DIC), its staff, clients, and visitors. They will monitor and control access to the premises, enforce security protocols, and respond promptly to any security-related concerns.

  1. Key Responsibilities

Security and Access Control

  • Monitor and control entry and exit points to the DIC premises.
  • Ensure only authorized personnel and visitors are allowed access to the facility.
  • Conduct routine checks of the premises, including locking and unlocking doors, windows, and gates.
  • Maintain a secure environment by patrolling the premises regularly.

Safety and Emergency Response

  • Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, such as fire, theft, or medical incidents.
  • Report any security incidents, hazards, or suspicious activities to the DIC Coordinator or Nurse immediately.
  • Assist in evacuations or other emergency procedures, as necessary.

Facility Maintenance and Support

  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including the guard station.
  • Support staff and clients during events or special activities by managing crowd control and ensuring safety protocols are followed.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain a daily log of activities, including visitor details and incidents.
  • Submit incident reports as required.
  • Keep accurate records of keys or access cards issued and returned.
  1. Qualifications

Education

  • Minimum of Grade 10 completion or equivalent.

Experience

  • At least 2 years of experience as a guard, preferably in a health, community-based, or organizational setting.
  • Prior training in security or safety measures is an advantage.

Skills and Competencies

  • Basic knowledge of security practices and emergency response procedures.
  • Strong observational and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to interact respectfully with diverse populations.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to handle prolonged periods of standing or patrolling.
  • Fluency in [local language] is an advantage.
