Job Description

As an International Christian Humanitarian Development organization, World Vision Ethiopia (WVE) is trusted to deliver integrated programs with target communities through its 51 Area programs (APs) located in seven regional states of the country.  WVE envisions a thriving organization where our strong leadership at all levels results in improved delivery of results for children.

  Purpose of the position:

Coordinate and provide leadership to the effective execution of Community Based Early Childhood Development (ECD) programs that contribute to the wellbeing of children towards the holistic development and protection of children through non-formal education programs of early childhoods, school ages, youth, caregivers, families, communities, volunteers, teachers, farmers, artisans, FBOs, CBOs, NGOs, governments and WV staff. He/she will lead and manage ECD grant opportunities and facilitate learning forums and programs.

 

Major Responsibilities:

 

Ensure effective planning, quality implementation and monitoring of Community based ECD activities

Provide strategic and operational oversight to the ECD implementing APs

Supports the development of contextualized planning and implementation plan to beget quality implementation

Regularly visit APs or project sites to monitor and ensure quality and timely completion of all activities as per objectives, to meet agreed upon results

Provide leadership and technical support to WVE staffs and stakeholders to empower the engagement and sustainable ownership of community towards the effective provision of developmental and learning opportunities for children.

Establish a learning platform to promote the continual enhancement of education team in WVE and other partners

Ensure high quality training materials, guides and supportive materials developed and contextualized

Ensure the effective contextualize and development of guidelines, manuals, and training toolkits, monitoring tools, supplementary materials and basic project materials.

liaising and maintaining excellent relationships with WVE’s partners and various stakeholders in ECD at all levels (community, district, regional, national, and including Teacher Training Colleges) to raise the profile and visibility of the ECD program.

 

Maintain strong networks, collaborations, partnerships with government offices, NGO (local and international), bilateral and multilateral organizations to improve the delivery of ECD.

Engaged and proactively mobilize resources and generate funds for the Early Childhood Development program, through presenting ongoing achievements, initiating or involving in relevant networking, creating strong partnerships, developing concept papers, proposals and organizing  internal resource

Manage, and make follow up to the ECD projects’ budget for the timely implementation of project activities.

 

Job Requirements

Educational level required:  Masters in social science-related fields in child development and education

• Experience:  3-5 years in managing community-based ECD program

• Experience in providing training on Early Childhood Development program

• Experience in working with workers from various technical sectors

• Team-builder and team-player

• Experience in community participatory project planning, implementation, and monitoring.

• Experience in managing, supervising, and providing support to staff and volunteers.

MA degree in Education – Developmental Psychology, ECCE, curriculum development, Educational Planning and Management, School Leadership, pedagogy, and the like.
