The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) wants to recruit employees in the following vacant positions the details of which are mentioned below.
About the Ethiopian Red Cross Society
The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) was established in 1935 and is one of the oldest and largest humanitarian organizations in Ethiopia. ERCS provides services to communities affected by natural and manmade disasters through the provision of emergency responses, ambulance and first aid, family reunification, essential drugs, water and sanitation, and other humanitarian services. ERCS also runs disaster risk reduction programs with the aim of creating resilience households and communities. Currently the ERCS has a structure consisting of 12 Regional Offices, 34 Zonal Branches and 131 District/Woreda Branches, 599 Woreda Red Cross Committee and 5871 Kebele Red Cross committees.
ERCS also runs disaster risk reduction programs relating to food security, climate change adaptation, livelihood diversification, and institutional capacity building interventions, with the aim of creating resilience households and communities. ERCS works in partnership with the Ethiopian Government, International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC), International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), partnering National Societies, members, volunteers and the communities we serve.
Key performance Areas
- Plans and executes timely sales and delivery of medicines to meet the demands of customers in a cost effective manner.
- Participates in the execution of timely market assessment and sales of medicines, other related supplies and medical equipment to meet the demands of customers in a cost effective manner;
- Programs medicines, other related supplies and medical equipment delivery schedules according to the needs of customers, receive supplies from the Central Store, and arranges transport and effect delivery to customers as required.
- Arranges and controls the necessary labor staff for handling the sorting, moving, stacking, loading and unloading activities in the course of handling and delivering medicines, other related supplies and medical equipment;
- Makes sure that adequate supply of medicines, other related supplies and medical equipment are available and maintained at the central store at any particular time.
- Drives increased revenue to achieve NS’s stretched objectives set in the strategic plan;
- Initiates price fixing or revision proposals for management decision based on contemporary market and operation cost assessment;
- Makes sure whether the issue/turn in document is written properly by checking all computations;
- Regularly liaises with the storekeepers to exchange information on the stock levels of medicines, other related supplies and medical equipment;
- Participates in studies and proposes ideas that help health and pharmaceuticals to reduce delivery cost to the minimum possible level and enhance the efficiency of the sales target ,
- Participates in drug selection and quantification committee activities; Initiates purchase requisition for stock items to maintain the minimum stock level;
- Establishes minimum reorder and maximum stock position and controls inventory movement of the health and pharmaceutical services;
- Submits monthly stock movement report of the central store and quarterly report on sales, stock movement, expiring items. Participates in the establishment of inventory controlling procedures and standards;
- Devises an information system by which latest data on stock of medicines, other related supplies and medical equipment available at central store could be communicated to customers and periodic consumption could be obtained;
- Monitors and evaluates the applied medicines, other related supplies and medical equipment delivery system and proposes improvements or alternatives which can upgrade delivery efficiency;
- Ensures that expired, damaged and spoiled drugs and medical supplies are disposed within a reasonably short time and obtains certificate of destruction from the Food, Medicines and Healthcare Administration and Control Authority;
- Monitors market response to medicines, other related supplies and medical equipment supplied by central store with the objective of assessing the opinion of prescribers, dispensers and consumers;
- Processes invoices in accordance with agreed procedures and timetable. Works closely with the Business Development and Marketing Service to ensure efficient and effective sales and marketing activities.

Job Requirements
Qualification Requirements:
- First Degree in Pharmacy and Diploma in purchasing /Management/ Material Management.
- 6 years related work experience
