Job Description

MISSION AND MAIN ACTIVITIES

Ensure completion of all medical activities related data into the project/mission databases. Supervise, organize and support  the activity of people collecting data in the points of care, as well as identify their training needs in order to provide a good service support and reliability of the data collected.

MAIN ACTIVITIES

I. DATA COLLECTION 

  • Ensure collation and entry of all data identified by project manager for collection (e.g. morbidity, mortality, surveillance of diseases of epidemics, nutrition, psychological and women’s health, etc) into the appropriate data management system while ensuring quality of data
  • Know and ensure proper use of software used for recording (i.e.).
  • Ensure accuracy of the medical data entered into the mission’s database on a regular basis, according to ALIMA protocols and carry out regular back-ups.
  • Provide technical support to data entry officers/operators in project sites and give response to their training needs.
  • Provide regular statistical reports for the medical team as well as informing the superior of any missing information, major changes or big differences in data

II. DATA ANALYSIS

  • With the support of the Project Medical and Referent and activities managers:
  • Creating, reviewing and adapting data collection tools according to the project indicators.
  • Developing and implementing data quality assurance methods to ensure good performance of the activities and reliability of the information, treating with respect and confidentiality all patient information
  • On a monthly, quarterly or basis of request, implementing detailed analysis of recorded data for key indicators for the project in order to facilitate the definition, redefinition or reorientation of project activity, and reporting to counterparts’ stakeholders (MoH, Clusters, donors…). This will also include analysis of the district’s (MoH) data whenever available. Following the analysis, identifying and reporting any new and interesting indicators for review with the medical team for potential follow up where relevant.
  • On a monthly basis and in collaboration with the medical team, preparing and submitting summary reports on analyzed data for both MoH and ALIMA and preparing and implementing ALIMA internal monthly or quarterly reports and medical data presentation.
  • Including facilitation of team reflection and sharing of updates to promote team dynamism and reactivity.
  • Implementation of prevention measures against abuse of power, gender-based and sexual violence:
  • Participates in training and awareness sessions
  • Implements abuse prevention standards
  • Ensures that team members complete training and awareness sessions and implement abuse prevention standards
  • Helps create and maintain a nurturing and protective environment.

Job Requirements

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Training / Education:

  • MA / BA degree in an area of social science, sociology, statistics, development studies, or related field of study.

Experiences:

  • At least 2 years’ experience in International and medical NGOs working in humanitarian programs with experience of developing M&E plans, training staff, capacity building, quantitative and qualitative data collection, analysis and reporting, and/or other aspects of M&E in developmental and emergency contexts
  • Experience in data collection, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and handling of electronic data collection tools.
  • Excellent computer skills required with proficiency in Windows, Word, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint and other related software’s.

Languages:

  • English Speaking, reading and writing, mandatory.
  • Knowledge of a local language (Somali and Oromo) is an asset
